New Year, New Me
Is anybody else tired of the phrase "new year new me"?
And since we are being all the way honest, the title was designed for SEO purposes. SEO increases the likelihood of someone who really needs to read this message find it while they're searching the internet for guidance. The clear purpose of writing this post hit me after I reflected on how my life has completely turned around this year. I started off with what seemed like nothing. I had no job, no drive, very little direction, and very little money. You see my problem? Well, the beauty of starting from ground zero is the ability to look at yourself in the mirror and decide who the hell you want to be, or what you want to be remembered for.
The source of insecurity was attributed to the career change I was making. Up until this year I was following a dream that wasn't mine but what I did learn was what I DID NOT want to do. A very wise man once said:
There was an internal shift that occurred and from there, I was making better decision as far as my future was concerned. With a positive mindset and an attitude to never quite, I said it's time to move forward and leave what is in the past in the past. I was starting something from nothing and the times that I felt unsure or maybe I needed to turn back was outweighed by the progress I was making from engaging in more productive habits. Journaling daily, blogging weekly, taking more vacations, and knocking out things on my to do list made what seemed impossible, possible. The gratification of reaping the fruits from the seeds I planted and nurtured was well worth the late nights, early mornings, long hours, and missed opportunities I encountered along the way.
Which brings me the main reason and the driving force for 2018, my inspiration board. The reason I started an inspiration board came from another blogger who not only has his own website, but started his own company and has extended his influence to various parts of the world. CJ Johnson understood the importance of getting your ideas pinned down as soon as they hit you. You can't afford for your dream to get lost in the shuffle of life because you haven't created a proper system to document and curate your thoughts. Why reinvent the wheel? An inspiration board is all you need for a daily reminder of your short-term and long-term goals, your inspirations, and is another means for holding you accountable.
Don't waste another second in 2018 and dig deep this year about what's going to fulfill you. What do you want to accomplish when it's a year from today and you're thinking about all that you've done to make your dreams a reality. I challenge you to start writing down some goals for the new year, break those down into SMART goals, and create a physical journal of your experiences, what you want to achieve, and how you plan to achieve it.
This is an example of an inspiration board but feel free to do yours how ever you want it. I will be changing up the content this year based on my board, and it's exciting because it's going to provide my audience with even more awesome info. Stay tuned because the website will change to kick-off 2018. I hope you're as excited as I am. Subscribe here!
